“Introducing Mr. Murphy – our dedicated principal at St. Mary’s, whose journey in education is a testament to his unwavering commitment to Catholic values and academic excellence.”

With nearly two decades of experience shaping young minds, Mr. Murphy’s appointment as principal marks a heartfelt reunion with the St. Mary’s community. Prior to assuming his current role, he spent nine years as a beloved middle school teacher here, cultivating a deep connection with both students and families.

Mr. Murphy’s passion for Catholic education is palpable, rooted in the belief that it enriches not just individuals, but entire communities. He’s a firm advocate for instilling values that go beyond the classroom, nurturing students’ spiritual growth alongside their academic achievements.

Equipped with a bachelor’s degree in American history from Salve Regina University and a master’s in childhood education from The College of Saint Rose, Mr. Murphy brings both academic expertise and a profound dedication to his role. His commitment to leadership is further underscored by his completion of the School Building Leadership Certificate at The College of Saint Rose.

At St. Mary’s, Mr. Murphy’s impact extends far beyond administrative duties. As Middle School Captain, he was instrumental in guiding students through challenges, advocating for those with special needs, and shaping curriculum alongside the Albany Diocesan Schools Curriculum Cabinet. His involvement in statewide educational initiatives, including the New York State Education Department’s Advisory Council, highlights his dedication to advancing educational excellence at all levels.

Beyond his professional commitments, Mr. Murphy cherishes his role as a husband and father. Together with his wife, Kate, he navigates the joys and responsibilities of parenthood, with their daughters actively engaged in Catholic education.

In Mr. Murphy, prospective families will find not only a principal but a trusted mentor and advocate for their children’s holistic development.
