Principal's Letter

Dear Parents,

              I hope this letter finds you and your family well, having enjoyed all the blessings the Christmas season has to offer. Typically at the start of each New Year, I take time to reflect on the past year and try to be mindful of all I have to be grateful for. Family and good health are certainly among the blessings Christ has bestowed upon me. But I am also blessed to be part of this school community, which in many ways is like being part of an extended family. It is my hope that you feel like you’re part of a larger, St. Mary’s family, one that cares for, prays for and supports you and your children in your daily journey.

               January brings with it a number of exciting activities, including Catholic Schools Week. Catholic Schools Week is all about celebrating our Catholic Identity and the uniqueness of our St. Mary’s family and community. The week begins on Sunday, January 29th at the Catholic Schools Week Mass at 10:30 a.m. Following Sunday’s mass will be the annual Open House. I encourage everyone to bring a friend or neighbor to tour the school and meet the faculty. Your testimonials about the St. Mary’s program are our best advertisement! Remember also that St. Mary’s “Friends and Family” program provides a $100 reimbursement on your tuition if you refer a family to us that registers at and attends St. Mary’s School.

              The week’s events will also include many fun and educational activities including the Catholic Schools Week Art Exhibit at the Empire State Plaza. Each year, art work created by our students is on display in the South Lobby Concourse. The exhibit will open on Tuesday, January 31st and be open to the public all that week. If your schedule permits, drop by to view our student’s artistic creations. On Friday of that week, our doors will be open to family and friends as we host Special person’s day. Students invite a family member to visit the classroom, enjoy some refreshments and join us in our First Friday Liturgy.       

              I look forward to seeing many of you at our next PTO meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, January 10th at 7:00 p.m. Until we see each other next, may you be blessed with a healthy, happy New Year.
